Invited talk by Michael Lopes

The supervisor of the Substation Automation division at Eversource Energy in Connecticut, Michael Lopes, will give a talk about the work environment and career opportunities.
Michael Lopes has eleven years of experience working within the Field Communications Department. Michael specializes in Supervisory Controls and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems and numerous communication systems. Michael supervises a team of engineers and technicians that perform maintenance, training, and upgrades for the Eversource SCADA system and its associated communication hardware and software. Michael’s team works in the dynamic field of rapidly improving technology with Substation communication upgrades, Wind and Solar Distributive Generation, Volt and Var Optimization Systems, PV Solar Battery Sites, and various other systems being added to the Eversource Power Grid. Michael Lopes is also a retired Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy Civil Engineer Corps with 26 Years of service.
