The Aerospace Industry: Challenges and Opportunities for Electrical Engineering Graduates

October 4, 2016 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The world of aerospace, fixed wing, rotary wing, unmanned air vehicles, and space, provides a rich and diverse spectrum of challenge and opportunity for the recent electrical engineering graduate.  From controls, including autonomous flight, to communications, to navigation, the air vehicle requires systems designed, tested, manufactured, and installed by electrical engineers.

This presentation begins with a few examples of interesting technical challenges in today’s aerospace industry.  A discussion of the various electrical engineering specialties required to conquer these technical challenges follows.  The presentation concludes with a brief review of selected current programs underway at leading US aerospace companies.  The objective of this presentation is to encourage new and recent electrical engineering graduates to pursue careers in the aerospace industry.  Questions will be invited.

This is a joint event of the IEEE Maine Section and the University of Maine IEEE Student Chapter.
