From Hubble to Webb: The Next Generation Space Telescope
The James Webb Space Telescope (sometimes called JWST or Webb), which will be launched from French Guiana in October of 2018, will be the premier observatory of the next decade. In addition to studying the first luminous glows after the Big Bang, it will be able to search for signs of life on extra-terrestrial planets similar to Earth. Webb may turn out to be the telescope that finds an answer to humanity’s most profound question: Are we alone in the Universe?
