Manu Malek — Biography

Manu Malek has been involved in academia and industry for more than 30 years. He was Industry Professor of Computer Science and Director of the Cyber-security Certificate Program at Stevens Institute of technology from 2001 to 2008 when he retired. Prior to joining Stevens he was Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at Lucent Technologies Bell Laboratories. He has held various academic positions in the U.S. and overseas, as well as technical management positions at Telcordia Technologies and AT&T Bell Laboratories.

Dr. Malek is the author, coauthor, or editor of seven books, and the author or co-author of more than fifty technical papers in the areas of communication networks, computer communications, and network management. He is a Life Fellow of the IEEE, was an IEEE Third-Millennium medalist for his contributions, and was an IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Lecturer from 1999 to 2007. He was the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Springer Journal of Network and Systems Management from 1993 to 2001. Since 2001 he has been the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Computers and Electrical Engineering, published by Elsevier.

He earned his Ph.D. in EE/CS from University of California, Berkeley.
