5G and Edge Compute based Emerging Applications/Services

Recent proliferation of the fifth generation (5G) of mobile communications and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) platforms has ignited the latest wave of Digitization. In this wave, digitization is being augmented with embedded and/or almost real-time collaboration, guidance, and intelligence in an unprecedented manner, impacting Humanity for better learning and living experiences.
In this talk, we share the results of a few recent laboratory trials using Verizon’s commercial millimeter wave 5G networks and MEC in the greater Boston, Massachusetts, USA area.
These trials cover many emerging managed/intelligent applications/services in the areas of crowd management, entertainment, public safety, first responders’ tasks, health care, and video distribution.
