AI for Wireless: Application Areas

Artificial Intelligence (AI) became popular for identifying dog and cats in images and now it is in every part of our lives. It is even showing up in wireless systems. It first started with identifying modulation types in an academic paper. Now 3GPP is considering physical layer algorithms to boost system performance. Researchers are looking into designing communication links using AI without explicit modulation and error correction algorithms. In this talk, we are going to go over application areas of AI in the wireless communications systems focusing on physical layer algorithm. One of the hardest parts for communications systems engineers who have been using MATLAB is to get into a new field using a new tool. So, we will use MATLAB as our main platform but also talk about interoperability with Python-based tools.
