Automotive Drive Technology

March 2, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Today’s automotive technology includes many complex systems. Some people believe that cars have become much too complicated and mysterious but we hope to somewhat simplify and bring a better understanding of some of the important systems.

This presentation will be a technical discussion on the main drive and handling components of today’s automobiles. Its purpose is to provide a basic understanding of these components and how they propel, stop, and control the handling of vehicles so the engineer can have a better understanding of how to interact with the systems in informed ways.

We will discus how the systems relate to regular operation and also how they react at driving limits. Automotive racing, for example, has helped engineers create better, longer lasting, more efficient, and safer vehicles over time. And they are doing this while actually making it easier to control and troubleshoot the systems.
