This presentation focuses on the rapidly changing technology revolution in lighting solutions that enable the internet of things. Specifically, how technology improvements can be married with lighting and controls to enhance communication protocols.
Smart lighting can not only increase the efficiency and energy performance of a building but it can act as an interface; allowing occupants, employees or students to maximize the use of their space by utilizing indoorway finding technology, or by providing information about a parking garage and sending a driver to the exact spot available through a parking management system. It can even enhance security by creating a visual alert for law enforcement to send them directly to the compromised area. This presentation seeks to explore the opportunities that exist both today, and in the near future for lighting and the internet of things.
