IEEE NY VTS Rail Technology Forum: Battery-Based Wayside Energy Storage Technology

Technology Synopsis: Electric powered vehicles are rapidly growing segment of transportation industry owning much of this progress to the improved technologies, public inclination towards minimizing carbon footprint and government policy initiatives. Currently transit industry is undergoing a major technological transformation by investing heavily in infrastructure that will help advance and improve efficient use of energy. This presentation discusses use of battery-based wayside energy storage devices into a power distribution system that allows smart management of power and available energy, which in turns enables clean, sustainable service operation at high levels of performance.
