Machine learning and high criticality for autonomy in the aerospace domain

Dr. Gentile will illustrate the current and future work of the working group “EUROCAE-WG-114 / SAE-G34”, whose objective is to deliver a standard for the development and certification/approval of aeronautical safety-related products implementing Artificial Intelligence (AI). The scope of this work encompasses ground-based equipment and airborne vehicles, including Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) products. The standard delivered by this group will provide practices for showing compliance with regulations, and it will help companies develop and meet their internal standards. The impact that this work will have on everyone’s life is enormous. For instance, pilotless aircraft could soon become a reality that people can trust the same way they trust traditional airplanes today.
