Overview of Software Defined Networking (SDN)

October 6, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Co-sponsored by: C 16

SDN creates a network data path/control plane dichotomy for the purpose of centralizing network state and policy. The SDN control plane is realized by “controller” software that runs on commodity general-purpose computer hardware, and the switches that create the data paths, are general-purpose devices that forward packets on the basis of rules that are installed by their controller.

In this talk, our speaker will outline an SDN-based security system that he is developing that provides users with the minimal privileges they need to perform their work while inhibiting the flow of malware infections.
