Resonant Phenomena in HV Converters

November 2, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

This lecture is intended for engineers and researchers in the field of high voltage electronics who want to expand or refresh their understanding of the parasitics impact on operation and design of HV converters in everyday practice. The lecture focuses on power circuitry of high-performance switchmode power supplies ranging from units to hundreds of kV. “Resonant” behavior is regarded as the influence of the HV transformer and voltage multiplier on the converter current waveforms. HV transformer equivalent circuits are discussed; their choice for further analysis is justified both theoretically and experimentally. Over-voltages (OV) generated by high harmonics are analyzed with Fourier transforms.
