Mastering EVM: Optimizing Your Signal Generator

– When it comes to EVM, there is no single number to characterize performance, and until now, no simple way to get the best EVM performance. There are many controls to optimize generator quality: ALC; frequency response; IQ modulator; and gain stages. Setting up your VSG can be a complex and challenging task. Does it make sense to force test engineers to be generator designers? Thankfully the answer is no. Many modern VSGs now include “Optimize EVM” features. The firmware will automatically optimize itself for the best EVM. Part three of our “Mastering EVM” webinar series explores how to optimize your signal generator to meet your EVM requirements.
