Distribution Voltage Regulation Seminar – Parts 3 & 4
Distribution Voltage Regulation Seminar – Parts 3 & 4
NOTICE - This session will be paid for by the North Jersey Section PES as a courtesy to our members and prospective members during these challenging times of COVID-19. There will be no charge for participation and Continuing Education Unit credits. This session is being offered as a GoToMeeting (details below). The seminar will cover:Distribution Voltage Regulation Series: Methods to Regulate the Voltage on the Distribution GridIntroduction: This is a 10 - session presentation meant to assist engineers in designing the proper voltage regulationarchitecture for the distribution grid. Each session takes approximately 45-50 minutes with a 10-15minute period at the end for questions. The presentations should prove beneficial to technicians andengineers responsible for distribution standards and design, distribution planning engineers, powerquality engineers as well as SCADA/ communications engineers. Below is a brief description of eachsession.Part 3) LTCs, Regulators and their ControlsThis session covers the series applied voltage regulation devices and the settings in the regulator/LTCcontrols. Settings covered include bandcenter, Bandwidth, time delay, and Line Drop Compensation.Blocking of the controls due to tap position, abnormal voltages and currents exceeding the rating of thedevice are also covered.Part 4) Capacitor Banks and ControlThis session covers shunt connected capacitor banks, both fixed and switched. It also covers singlephase operated versus three-phase individual operated capacitor switching. It also discusses the typesof switches used with capacitor banks as well as the use of line post sensors and neutral current sensors. Finally it covers the different control modes (Voltage, Var and current) as well as overrides(temperature, time and remote).Speaker(s): Bob McFetridge, Agenda: Two hours of instruction will be provided. This session is being offered as a GoToMeeting:https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/997477389You must register through VTools in advance in order to receive your CEU Certificate. PLEASE NOTE: Your certificate will go to the email address you use to register through VTools and will have your name exactly as you enter it when registering. It will come from “IEEE Certificate ” Please make sure this address is in your safe senders list.
