What Every Microwave Engineer Should Know About Quantum Computing
What Every Microwave Engineer Should Know About Quantum Computing
This talk introduces the exciting potential, basic principles, and significant technical challenges of practical quantum computation. The emphasis is on the fundamental role of microwaves and microwave engineering in the design and physical realization of quantum technologies. The emergence of a new “quantum engineering” discipline represents an exciting opportunity for the present and next generation of physical scientists, computer scientists, and microwave engineers. Please click the link for registration for attending the webinar: (https://event.on24.com/wcc/r/3164012/F0A56160CA6D62535C9EA2C60AD9299B)Title: What Every Microwave Engineer Should Know About Quantum ComputingDate: Tuesday, December 14, 2021Time: 12:00 PM Eastern Standard TimeDuration: 1 hourCo-sponsored by: IEEE North Jersey SectionSpeaker(s): Dr. David E. Realizing the promise of smart and connected cities By Carlos E. Jimenez-Gomez, BEng, MSc, MA
Realizing the promise of smart and connected cities By Carlos E. Jimenez-Gomez, BEng, MSc, MA
Abstract: Cities around the world are, more and more, aiming at becoming a smart city. But what is a smart city? What is behind the concept: a trendy term or real implementation? What does therefore becoming smart entail and what type of initiatives and technologies can make a city smart(er)? During this presentation, all these questions will be discussed, taking into account that a smart city is a multi-dimensional and multi-stakeholder phenomenon that requires decisions about goals (the vision), tools (the technology), and processes (among other, the engagement of citizens and other stakeholders).Bio: Carlos E. Jimenez-Gomez is an independent consultant in Government Digital Transformation. He has 30 years of experience in the public sector. He has worked for governments and international organizations in Europe, Middle East, North of Africa, and America, having participated in the elaboration of important policy documents, like the Ibero-American e-Government Interoperability Framework, officially signed by 21 countries in 2010.Bridging theory and practice, he has done research and he teaches in the university. He is author of book chapters, articles, and conference papers, having been invited as keynote speaker in international conferences and meetings, like the 2014 ITU/UNESCO Forum on Smart Sustainable Cities, where he participated appointed by the IEEE Smart Cities Committee.IEEE Senior Member, he received the IEEE Computer Society Golden Core Award in 2020. He is currently member of the Board of Governors of the IEEE Computer Society and Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Society on Social Implications of Technology, participating also in different committees, standards and initiatives related to Smart Cities and Artificial Intelligence.Social Media:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/carlosejimenez/Twitter: @estraticSpeaker(s): Carlos , Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/289181

New audio/video/wireless technologies for Home Entertainment – Part 2
On Thursday, December 16, 2021, the (https://www.TechnologyOnTap.org) will host Part 2 of a presentation on “New audio/video/wireless technologies for Home Entertainment”. Please (https://www.technologyontap.org/event/new-audio-video-wireless-technologies-for-home-entertainment---part-2/) to receive a link to the meeting.About the TopicHDTV, UHDTV, HDR, HEVC, NextGenTV … what’s it all about? This two-part series will describe what these technologies are, and how to sift through all of it. Understand how audio and video devices in your home and in your hand can now deliver content in a near-reality fashion by both wired and wireless means.Part 1 will discuss new audio/video technologies, and Part 2 will cover wired and wireless media, including cable, satellite, and the new NextGenTV system for over-the-air content delivery.About the Speaker(https://www.linkedin.com/in/acugnini/) is well known in the Digital Television (DTV) industry, and has clients that include Philips, ONEMedia, and WNET-13. Prior to launching (https://www.agcsystems.tv/), he held various technical and management positions at Philips Electronics’ Research and Consumer Electronics Divisions, and at interactive television systems developer ACTV. While at Philips, Aldo had a leadership role in the development of the ATSC digital television system (and its progenitor, the “Grand Alliance” digital HDTV system), and was a key member of the Advanced Television Research Consortium (ATRC) HDTV development team.Agenda: IntroductionSpeaker PresentationQuestionsNetworkingVirtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/287385
